THIS IS A BRIEF GUIDE AS TO WHICH EQUIPMENT CAN BE USED WITHIN THE IFAA STYLES, PLEASE REFER TO THE IFAA HANDBOOK FOR IN DEPTH RULES. 

BAREBOW RECURVE

  • Recurve bow No sights
  • Stabilisers permitted
  • One nocking point
  • Drawchecks and leveling device permitted but may not extend above arrow.
  • Stringwalking or facewalking.

BAREBOW COMPOUND

  • Compound bow
  • No sights
  • Stabilisers permitted
  • One nocking point
  • Drawchecks and levering device permitted but may not extend above arrow.
  • Stringwalking or facewalking.

FREESTYLE LIMITED RECURVE

  • Recurve bow
  • Sights
  • Stabilisers
  • Drawchecks and levering device permitted
  • Release aids not permitted.

FREESTYLE LIMITED COMPOUND

  • Compound bow
  • Sights
  • Stabilisers
  • Drawchecks and leveling device permitted
  • Release aids not permitted

FREESTYLE UNLIMITED

  • Compound bow
  • Sights
  • Stabilisers
  • Drawchecks and leveling device permitted
  • Release aid

BOWHUNTER RECURVE

  • Recurve bow
  • No sights
  • One straight stabiliser maximum 12" length
  • Drawchecks and leveling device not permitted
  • One nocking point
  • Index finger to touch nock
  • One consistent anchor point
  • Release aid not permitted.

BOWHUNTER COMPOUND

  • Compound bow
  • No sights
  • One straight stabiliser maximum 12" length
  • Clicker and leveling device not permitted
  • One nocking point
  • Index finger to touch nock
  • One consistent anchor point
  • Release aid not permitted

BOWHUNTER LIMITED

  • Compound bow
  • Five pin sight
  • One straight stabiliser maximum 12" length
  • Clicker and leveling device not permitted
  • One nocking point
  • Index finger to touch nock
  • One consistent anchor point
  • Release aid not permitted

BOWHUNTER UNLIMITED

  • Compound bowv
  • Five pin sight
  • One straight stabiliser mmaximum 12": length clicker and leveling device not permitted
  • One nocking point
  • Release aid

All above styles arrows used shall be identical in length, weight, diameter, fletchings and nocks without regard to colour, with allowance for wear and tear.

LONGBOW

  • One piece straight end bow of any material which when strung displays one continued unidirectional curve
  • Bow may contain window and arrow shelf
  • No sights
  • No stabiliser
  • One nocking popoint
  • Mediterranean loose
  • One consistent anchor point
  • Arrows must be of wood fletched with natural feather

ADDITIONAL STYLES RECOGNIZED BY THE EFAA

AMERICAN FLAT BOW

  • As Longbow above

LONGBOW

  • Bow shall be of "D" section made entirely of wood
  • No sight window or arrow rest
  • No sights
  • No stabiliser
  • String one colour only
  • One nocking point
  • Mediterranean loose
  • One consistent anchor point
  • Arrows must be made of wood fletched with natural feather

HUNTING STYLE

  • Recurve bow
  • No sights
